022 399 7929 ryanvdkaay@gmail.com What tasks do you cover in your work? Any kind of timber joinery: doors, stairs, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, and bespoke jobs too. What do you enjoy most about being a joiner? Customer satisfaction! Particularly with bespoke pieces, I like trying things I’ve never done before and seeing how happy the client is with how it turns out. Any trade mistakes you learnt to avoid early on? How easy it is to add 10mm to your measurements! Whether it’s my own measurements or going off someone else’s. That’s one thing I’ve learnt to always double check. You’ve been a joiner overseas, too. How does it compare to being a joiner in Taupo? I was a joiner in Germany for a few years. That experience taught me things I wouldn’t have learnt here and advanced my skill-set and career much faster. It’s great to bring those skills back to Taupo. So you like living in Taupo now? I wouldn’t live anywhere else! We’re in the perfect place to make the most of the great outdoors, with the mountain and the lake. And people in Taupo are way nicer! |
